The Higher Education Act of 1965 (HEA), as amended by the Higher Educational Opportunity Act of 2008 (HEOA) requires institutions participating in federally funded financial aid programs to make information about the institution available to current and prospective students. Colleges need to provide disclosure and reporting requirements in a variety of formats.

LAVC’s data elements are reported annually through the IPEDS system to The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES). NCES is the primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education in the U.S. and other nations. NCES is located within the U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of Education Sciences.
Student Right-to-Know Rates for Fall 2014 Cohort
Completion Rate: 21.10%
Transfer Rate: 8.79%
In compliance with the Student Right-to-Know and Campus Security Act of 1990 (Public Law 101-542), it is the policy of our college district to make available its completion and transfer rates to all current and prospective students. Beginning in Fall 2014, a cohort of all certificate-, degree-, and transfer-seeking first-time, full-time students were tracked over a three year period. Their completion and transfer rates are listed above. These rates do not represent the success rates of the entire student population at the College nor do they account for student outcomes occurring after this three year tracking period.
Based upon the cohort defined above, a Completer is a student who attained a certificate or degree or became 'transfer prepared' during a three year period, from Fall 2014 to Spring 2017. Students who have completed 60 transferable units with a GPA of 2.0 or better are considered 'transfer prepared'. Students who transferred to another post-secondary institution, prior to attaining a degree, certificate, or becoming 'transfer prepared' during a five semester period, from Spring 2015 to Spring 2017, are transfer students.

Los Angeles Valley College posts Salary & Wage Information from the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office (CCCCO). The CCCCO is making available for the first time comparative information about the earnings of recent graduates who received an award in a specific program area at California community colleges.
The Salary Surfer uses the aggregated earnings of graduates from a five year period to provide an estimate on the potential wages to be earned two years and five years after receiving a certificate or degree in certain disciplines. This tool also provides information on which colleges offer programs in those specific disciplines. The Salary Surfer does not contain information about wages earned by community college students who transfer to a four-year institution.
The CCCCO College Wage Tracker provides median wage information on students who completed credit awards at a particular California Community College over a series of academic years using California Employment Development (EDD) Unemployment Insurance (UI) wage data . Total annual median wages for students three years after completion of award are displayed and categorized by College and type of award. Please read methodology for more detail regarding the cohort and data analysis.

Campus Safety Information
Los Angeles Valley College posts the following information on campus safety:
Information regarding Crime Statistics at LAVC is posted in accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
This act is named in memory of university student Jeanne Clery, who was raped and murdered in 1986. It was formerly known as the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990. All colleges and universities that receive federal funding are required by this act to disclose information about crime on campus and crime in the immediate vicinity of the campus. Annual reports which contain three years of crime statistics, campus security policies, statements of victims' rights, and sexual assault policies must be made available under this act. In addition, timely warnings of criminal threats to the entire campus population must be made available.

The Los Angeles Valley College Emergency Response Plan and Standard Operating Manuals covers a variety of potentially dangerous situations and give information on response to these emergencies. Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children's education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level.
Complaint Process Information
In compliance with the State Complaint process, according to 34 CFR 668.43(b), LAVC will provide any enrolled or perspective student (upon request) a copy of the documents describing the college's accreditation and State, Federal or tribal approval or licensing.
In addition, students or perspective students can obtain contact information about filing complaints with the accreditor and with its State approval or licensing entity, and any other relevant State official or agency to is appropriate to handle a student's complaint by visiting the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office website.
Cares Act Distribution
The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act), signed into law on March 27, 2020 and funds were distributed to institutions of higher education to address the disruptions caused by COVID-19.
Financial Aid Information

The LAVC Services for Students with Disabilities Office provides support services, specialized instruction, and educational accommodations to students with disabilities so that they can participate as fully and benefit as equitably from the college experience as their non-disabled peers.
